Description
Canal du Midi (France): Pente d'eau (water lift) at Fonserannes, Bézier on 20 Feb. 2004. Completed in 1680 by Pierre-Paul RIQUET (1604-1680), the Canal du Midi links the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. The Canal du Midi starts near Béziers and ends at Toulouse, where it is continued by the Canal Latéral de la Garonne. The latter flows parallel to the Garonne river between Toulouse and Langon.
